Erin Mihalik, J.D., M.P.A.

Who writes your legal content?

Background

Erin Mihalik is the owner, project manager, and lead writer at Amicus Digital. She has more than 25 years of experience working in various aspects of business, law, marketing, and nonprofits. Prior to attending law school, she managed the SEO and digital marketing for a medical device company in Chicago, IL.

Why Legal Content Marketing?

While working with digital content marketing agencies, she realized the disconnect between most digital marketers and the legal market. Most project managers and other team members involved in the process lacked basic legal knowledge. This knowledge gap negatively impacted their teams’ ability to create effective, accurate, and ethical digital legal content.

Repeatedly, marketing professionals failed their clients in various ways, including:

  • Failing to acknowledge and abide by the American Bar Association’s advertising guidelines
  • Failing to grasp basic legal concepts, such as negligence
  • Confusing American legal terminology or laws with the British, Canadian, Australian, or Indian legal systems
  • Creating poorly researched content outlines based on non-existent laws and assumptions driven by false information
  • Cutting monetary corners and not using writers with law degrees while claiming the opposite
  • Creating comically silly or basic content outlines that would never appeal to certain firms’ sophisticated clientele

These content firms charge top dollar for their services, but they use:

  • Non-legal digital marketing professionals
  • Non-legal project managers
  • Non-legal writers
  • Non-legal editors

Not every content agency has different people in each of the above roles, but the large agencies do, and their staff rarely have a strong legal background.

The communication between each of these roles is critical to crafting legal content that will propel your law firm’s website to the first page of Google. When decisions are made in a vacuum, without consideration for your industry, your digital marketing agency has failed you.

Essentially, many of the “legal” marketing agencies are using the same teams to write legal content as they may use for selling dog toys or gardening products.

You deserve to have your legal content strategically designed and created by a team that understands the law AND content marketing.

Recognizing a major gap in the market, Erin opened her boutique legal content marketing agency, Amicus Digital. She writes most projects herself and personally oversees every project her agency takes on.

EVERY.
SINGLE.
PROJECT.

We keep our teams small to provide the personalized experience our clients deserve. But most importantly, a small, boutique agency allows us to connect with each client and project more intimately.

Our focus on quality over quantity means that your law firm’s voice will never fall through the cracks. Our team is small and our communication is strong. If a marketing concept isn’t working for an article, we re-envision it.

We will never sacrifice your legal content on the altar of SEO.

Amicus Digital’s holistic approach leaves our clients with well-rounded content that is accurate, ethical, and appealing to intended target audiences.

Whether you are a large firm or a solo practitioner, we have options that scale to your budget. We pride ourselves on our ‘outside the box’ thinking when it comes to helping our customers achieve high quality digital marketing within budget.

We are not a one-size-fits-all agency. At Amicus Digital, we’re here to help you find the right fit. For some clients that may be:

  • Writing regular blog posts on industry-specific topics
  • Writing occasional blog posts on current legal events
  • Revamping your website copy, complete with link mapping
  • Refreshing old blog posts to bring new life and fresh SEO to tired content
  • Editing and reformatting articles written in-house to enhance SEO, connect with your audience, and utilize industry best practices

We accept a very limited number of clients to ensure sustainable quality.
